Rydell High’s class of ‘59 sets the stage for this upbeat, yet irreverent musical valentine to rock and roll, doo-wop, and teenage angst. The story follows the exploits of the greaser Burger Palace Boys and their female counterparts the Pink Ladies as they struggle with the pangs of adolescence, and more serious issues including gang violence, class conflict, and teen pregnancy.  At center stage is the romance between bad boy greaser Danny Zuko and wholesome Sandy Dumbrowski, the new girl at school. The show became the longest-running Broadway musical in history, until it was beaten by A Chorus Line, and went on to become a hugely successful film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. Featured songs include “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee,” “Greased Lightning,” and “You’re the One That I Want.”
